THIS IS NOT THE WEBSITE FOR THE
MERCER-HOUSTON DOG RUN ASSOCIATION
but there may be a "parallel" site?
more to come...
This is the former domain, website, and e-Mail host to the Mercer-Houston Dog Run Association.
On March 14, 2008, I received, after 6 years of hosting the website and e-Mail for free,
the following note from Beth Gottlieb, new President of MHDRA:
14 May, 2008.
Hello Bill,
For some reason , the former MHDRA site remains online.
As I indicated in my earlier email, the Mercer Houston Dog Run Association is no longer using your services as webmaster. I must ask you to take the site down.
Whatever the rationale, you chose to maintain ownership of the URL. That is certainly your right to do so. However, there cannot be two parallel sites.
By keeping the first site up, you would be presenting yourself as a representative of MHDRA. No one logging on, or sending in money, would know you have no legal authority in that regard.
I must protect the integrity of MHDRA, and insist that you cease and desist immediately.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
Sincerely,
Beth Gottlieb
President, MHDRA
1) For some reason , the former MHDRA site remains online.
Answer: The reason, as you should know, is because until now, I was never asked to discontinue running the site.
2) As I indicated in my earlier email, the Mercer Houston Dog Run Association is no longer using your services as webmaster. I must ask you to take the site down.
Answer: Will do Beth, now that you request it. For your information, MHDRA never acquired my services, they were volunteered of my own accord.
3) Whatever the rationale, you chose to maintain ownership of the URL. That is certainly your right to do so. However, there cannot be two parallel sites.
Answer: Thanks for recognizing my rights. I choose to keep the domain because I enjoy running the website and e-Mail service professionally, and for free, at my expense, with my computer equipment, and bandwidth, as a service to the run.
It's my understanding the board has hired a company affiliated with a board member's wife to take over the website? Did you ask the MHDRA members if they thought a web and e-Mail service they had to pay for was better than a free one, that has been up and running for 6 years? Did you ask them if they thought it was OK to use a board member's wife's company to do paid work?
4) By keeping the first site up, you would be presenting yourself as a representative of MHDRA. No one logging on, or sending in money, would know you have no legal authority in that regard.
Answer: I have been a member of MHDRA for 6 years, in that regard, I do represent MHDRA. The Board has always had the ability to change content on the site. Remember how you added the new board member listing? I claim no legal authority or ownership of content (though I with a former board created or produced much of it). As mentioned, boards have always had the ability to change the content. In 6 years, no one ever worried
about my legal authority to provide accurate, non-deceptive information about MHDRA. I wonder why you mention "sending in money"? Are you suggesting anything in particular? I have nothing to do with receiving money, so why would you bring that up, if it is completely irrelevant, it really escapes me! And I find it in VERY BAD TASTE.
5) I must protect the integrity of MHDRA, and insist that you cease and desist immediately.
Answer: OK Beth, done, I have cease and desisted. I know everyone feels safe now that the integrity of MHDRA has been protected.
Sincerely,
Bill Moss
P.S. Please send me the parallel site ASAP. I can put up a link to redirect people.
